LAUNCH DAY BOGO – WITH WINK THE ONE-EYED WONDER DOG
April 2, 2013 – Just Blow It Up: Firepower for Living an Unlimited Life Launch
International Children’s Book Day
On this day -buy yourself a book that teaches you how to “just blow up” barriers between you and your dreams, and we’ll help bring someone else’s dream within reach. That’s what BOGO Donation Days are all about.
I found my first friends between the covers of books. From the time I was old enough to sit on my mother’s lap and follow along with my little finger, I believed that there was magic in those shapes on the page; they could take me to places I’d never been, teach me things I’d never even thought of, and introduce me to people I very much wanted to know.
I grew up knowing that the stories we allow to permeate our lives determine how we see our world, how we see our selves, how we see our past, and how we see the possibilities in our future.
So International Children’s Book Day, a day dedicated to inspiring a love of reading in children, was the perfect day for me to launch my first full-length book.
And bringing that love of books, and the comfort I found between their covers, to children who are spending their time in hospital rooms rather than in classrooms or playing in the sunshine, was the perfect way for me to celebrate!
And I had the perfect partners in mind; Annette Karr and Wink, and the book that Annette wrote for Wink to share his story.
That’s a lot of “perfect,” but it gets even better!
Wink the One-Eyed Wonder is a book for children, but adults enjoy it, too.
It is the perfect story, and the perfect message, for kids who are going through medical treatment, and perfect for the adults who love them too. (See, I told you there was more “perfect” coming up!)
You see, Wink’s had his share of doctors and surgeries. He knows what it’s like to be left alone at night in a room with other “kids” and no one but the nursing staff coming to check on him.
Wink was born a little early, before everything was fully formed. And one of his eyes was too underdeveloped to save. The condition required that his eye be removed and the lid sewn shut, thus, the name “Wink,” because he is perpetually winking.
Annette Karr was inspired by Wink’s spirit & how it touched the hearts of so many people. While the breeder may term him a “reject” and others might think he isn’t perfect, Annette tells him every day that he is worth a million bucks!
So Wink’s motto – and one he thinks we should ALL adopt – is “Think Wink – You’re Worth a Million!”
And now for that last bit of “perfect,” Annette’s story of just blowing up her own “brick walls” is featured in Just Blow It Up!
Not only is Annette’s story one of my favorites in Just Blow It Up, Wink’s story is one that speaks so powerfully to my heart that I am delighted with the opportunity to share it.
I appealed to my publisher, and the team at Sound Wisdom came through.
So on April 2, 2013, when you buy YOUR copy of Just Blow It Up: Firepower for Living an Unlimited Life, you’ll be helping me, and Annette and Wink, and the Sound Wisdom team, deliver copies of Wink the One-Eyed Wonder to be placed where kids need his message the most – in the waiting rooms of Children’s Hospitals. We’ll be choosing five hospitals and are committed to delivering at least 200 copies.
And you can be part of bumping that number up – just by buying and promoting Just Blow It Up and the April 2nd BOGO Donation Day.
